MARCH Online embroidery workshop

€169.00

Workshop Dates: Saturday March 21 & Saturday March 28 2025
Time: 15:00 – 17:30 CET on Zoom

This March, join me for a two-session workshop dedicated to the art of mandalas and couture embroidery — a celebration of history, craft and dimensional embellishment.

This embroidery is inspired by the ancient Hindu and Buddhist tradition of mandalas design. One of humanity’s oldest visual languages — a geometry of balance, rhythm, and meaning, it was designed to guide meditation, translating the cosmos into form.

Over centuries, this powerful structure traveled far beyond its origins, finding new expression in decorative arts: in architecture, textiles, mosaics and ornamental design through symmetry, repetition, and harmony.

In this online embroidery workshop, the mandala’s ancient language is reimagined through tridimensional couture embroidery, becoming a contemporary field for dimension, texture, and light. Guided by its centered composition and rhythmic structure, silk, metal, sequins, and crystals unfold, transforming ornament into a slow, thoughtful act of making.

You will be guided by Nadia—who brings over 20 years of haute couture embroidery experience with step-by-step instructions to recreate this original, richly textured embroidery.

  • explore how historical patterns can be reinterpreted through haute couture embroidery

  • learn how mandalas patterns are created and learn to produce your own designs

  • learn more about dimensional couture embellishment techniques and combinations

Your embroidery kit includes:

  • A digitally-printed vintage white linen panel with a circles mandala pattern (dimensions 21cm x 21cm / 8,2 inches x 8,2 inches)

  • Dark blue cotton mouliné embroidery floss

  • Flower-shaped white sequins

  • Large metallic pink cupped sequins

  • Medium metallic orange cupped sequins

  • Small iridescent grey cupped sequins

  • Mini orange cupped sequins

  • Iridescent bugle beads

  • 2mm rigged metallic blade in gold

  • Short pink bugle beads

  • Orange seed beads

  • Round silver rigged beads

  • Embroidery needle and beading needle

A few days before the first session, you’ll receive a comprehensive tech pack via email, with detailed guidance on materials placement and techniques.

You’ll need to bring:

  • Your usual 26cm embroidery hoop or slate frame.

  • Sewing thread thin enough to fit in the beading needle.

This workshop is not just about embroidery—it’s about storytelling through thread, from South east Asia and Buddhist tradition to your studio embroidery practice.

Limited to 20 kits only—reserve yours for these unforgettable embroidery sessions.
