JUNE Online embroidery workshop

€189.00

Saturday 7 June & Saturday 14 June 2025, 15:00 - 18:00 CET (Central European Time) on Zoom.

Nadia brings 20+ years experience as an embroidery designer and combines couture embroidery history, design and practice in this workshop. Nadia designs limited-edition embroidery kits for monthly workshops.

Nadia will start the workshop by talking you through her research in the Rébé archives these past seven years and tell you everything about their fabulous work for haute couture. Their client list included famous names like Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Balenciaga.

Inspired by the original drawing, the sample itself and the amazing dress, Nadia will take you on a journey to discover the beautiful style called “Nuit de Juin”, designed by Christian Dior for his Spring Summer 1954 collection and heavily embellished by the Rébé atelier. Before we proceed to the embroidery work, you will learn about haute couture fashion history and understand the every step of the process involved in creating such piece.

You will receive an embroidery kit which includes:

-       Printed cotton panel with the Dior-inspired floral design (designed to fit a 26cm or 10 inches hoop)

-       DMC cotton mouliné yarn in three shades

-       Orange seed beads and yellow seed beads

-       Donut-shaped golden sequins

-       Gold bullion and green bullion

We will embellish this luxurious garden using simple yet beautiful stitches like stem stitch, ladder stitch, back stitch and open satin stitch. We will then combine the thread work with the beads, sequins, giving dimension and depth to the embroidery work. You will also receive a tech pack by email a few days before the first session, which includes the design as well as the materials placement and detailed techniques descriptions.

You will only need the following additional materials:

-       26cm embroidery hoop or your usual slate frame

-      your favorite embroidery scissors

-      your favorite embroidery needle and beading needle

The workshop is 6 hours long (2 sessions of 3 hours each with a 10min break in the middle). These will be recorded and you will be sent a link by email, a couple of days after each class. You will have access to a specially dedicated WhatsApp group for guidance and questions during those two weeks. The embroidery artwork will take between 15 to 25 hours to be completed, at your own pace from the comfort of your home, depending on your embroidery skills.
